This Last One is a bit of a Cheat...Spring2017CLH

So this last one is a cheat because it is not my project.  My sister Lyssa made this for my birthday 2 months ago.  This is the same sister that also gave me my Brother Scan N Cut II.  Since Lyssa does not have a blog, nor photograph her creations, I thought I would do it for her this time.  This project fits in perfectly with the Spring 2017 Coffee Lovers Bloghop. Like me, she cannot survive without her daily coffee either.  She made this altered clipboard with a coffee design.  You can see the image better in the picture below.

I do not know the maker of the image but I love it. It is two friends (or sisters) enjoying their coffee outside on a lovely Spring morning with a bright and sunny coffee cup shining on them.  Another thing that I love is butterflies.  Lyssa used butterfly washi tape on the edges.  The flower and the leaves are thick chip board cut with Tim Holtz dies.

At the End of My Rainbow - Spring2017CLH

... there is a pot of coffee!  This fun card was created for the Spring Coffee Lovers Bloghop.  I used MFT Die-namics to make the rainbow and cloud.  The pot of coffee was made using an SU punch.  The sun is from a Verve die. I used coffee colored Tear Drops to create coffee drops coming down the rainbow.  The word "coffee" in the cloud was stamped with Smokey Slate and Illuminate inks then clear embossed.  The grass at the bottom was from a cutting file included in the Brother Scan N Cut II and alcohol markers.  I coated the coffee beans in the pot with a little Wink of Stella for some shimmer.

Thanks for the Pick Me Up - Spring2017CLH

I am having a lot of fun using my coffee stamps for this year's Spring Coffee Lovers Bloghop.  This coffee inspired creation uses the current Freshly Made Sketches #280.

To keep with the Spring theme of the bloghop, I stamped the mug in a bright pink and used a strip of designer paper with pink and orange dots.  The sentiment was done in the same pink as the mug but heat embossed with clear powder to give it a little pop.  I used Wink of Stella on the coffee in the mug.  The mug was cut out with my Brother Scan N Cut II machine.  This card is just one single layer for a clean and simple design.

Happy Spring - Spring2017CLH

Ah Spring, that time of year when the weather gets warm, the sun shines brighter, trees bud, and the Spring Coffee Lovers Bloghop is here!  The Coffee Lovers Bloghop come around each season for crafters to show off our caffeine inspired creations.  Anyone can play, the only requirement is that your creation must have a coffee, tea, or cocoa theme and reflect the corresponding season.  The Spring Coffee Lovers Bloghop runs from Friday, March 24th through Friday, March 31st.

For my first card for the bloghop I did the emboss-resist technique on the background.  I used spring tones to get a get bright bursts of colors around white embossed flowers.  I colored the coffee mug in pink and added a light aqua ribbon and matching sequins.

Recipe:
Stamps:  Better with You, Coffee Helps - Verve, Reason to Smile - SU
Paper:  WW, Cucumber Crush
Ink:  Cucumber Crush, Regal Rose, Cool Caribbean, Memento Tuxedo Black, Versamark

John 15:7

This card was made for the Splitcoast Stampers Featured Stamper Challenge #527.  Each week a SCS member is chosen and their gallery is featured. The challenge is to create a card that is inspired or CASEd from one in the featured stamper's gallery.  This week bubblstx4 is the Featured Stamper and I chose her With Wild Abandon as the card to CASE.  I love the sponged-look of the background, and of course, the butterfly.  I created my card with an ombre effect inside a die-cut frame.  I used the Bible verse John 15:7 from ODBD as the sentiment and stamped an image from Tim Holtz in a darker blue.  I added a punched butterfly with a pearl accent.

Recipe:
Stamps:  John 15:7 (Scripture Collection 4) - ODBD, Flights of Fancy - TH
Paper:  WW, Island Indigo, Not Quite Navy
Ink:  Pool Party, Bermuda Bay, Lost Lagoon, Not Quite Navy, Versafine Onyx Black
Accessories:  Nestabilities, MISTI, MS Butterfly Punch, Sponges, Stick on Pearl

Close as a Memory

Sympathy cards are my least enjoyable cards to make because it means that someone I know is grieving the lost of a loved one.  Death is something that happens to everyone as Psalm 89:48 says,
"What man can live and not see death?  Can he deliver his life from the power of the grave?"
Therefore there will always be a need for sympathy cards.  They are one way to show care to someone who is grieving.

I made several of these cards to keep on hand as the need arises.  I CASEd the design from this card I found on Pinterest.  It is a simple and beautiful design.  My card is different in that I used slightly different colors, used Dew Drops for the flower centers, and chose butterflies for the embossed background.

When I see a butterfly I am reminded of what the Bible says about death for those of us who believe in salvation through Jesus Christ's death and resurrection.  I love what Romans 6:5-10 says about death for those whose faith is in Jesus Christ,
"For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection, knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin. For he who has died has been freed from sin. Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no longer has dominion over Him. 10 For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God."

A loose correlation is like a caterpillar becoming a brand new butterfly by metamorphosis, believers in Christ are transformed from old the rotting mortal bodies to glorified eternal bodies living in heaven because of the work of Christ.

Citrus Butterfly Ombre

I was playing around with Jennifer McGuire's ombre technique again.  This time I did it with 2 tones in citrusy colors.  I didn't like how it looked when the tones came together so I took the opportunity to use some ribbon in my stash.  I added a die cut butterfly in a color that matches the butterfly in the ribbon.  I left the sentiment off so I can tailor this card to whatever occasion arises.

Recipe:
Stamps:  Acorns Background - Judykins
Paper:  WW, Marigold Morning
Ink: WW Craft, Daffodil Delight, Marigold Morning, Mowed Lawn - Distress Ink
Accessories:  Butterfly Thinlet Die, Ribbon, White Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, Blending Tool, Foam Brush, Glimmer Mists, Metalic Dot
