Have a Royal Cup

Holiday Coffee Lovers Blog Hop

I needed a little diversion from making my annual Christmas cards and something coffee themed seemed to do the trick. This little cup was an easy and fun project to make and it fits with the 2015 Winter Coffee Lovers Blog Hop.

Blue and white are my favorite colors for Christmas.  I decided to go with a bit of a royal theme using crown and throne stamps.  The saucer is made from SU's Doily Thinlet die.  I used a narrow Cuttlebug embossing folder on the handle.

Recipe:
Stamps:  Kindred Spirits - Verve; Carry On, Postage Collection - SU

Proverbs 31:25

This beautiful card was made with a stamp featuring one of my favorite Bible passages.  I made it for a friend who was feeling overwhelmed after getting a breast cancer diagnosis a few months ago.  I am so happy to say that she is doing very well at this point.  She has a lot of people praying for her and she herself puts her trust in Jesus Christ.

Paper:  WW, Chocolate Chip, Pretty in Pink, Bermuda Bay, DP
Ink:  Riding Hood Red, Pretty in Pink, Old Olive, Chocolate Chip

Vintage Well Wishes

A friend was in the hospital recently undergoing a painful procedure.  To cheer her up, I made a card with an Autumn themed design.  I used one of the dies from the SU Leaflets Framelits set and sponged it with ink in Fall colors.  I tilted the background papers to give the card a fun effect.

Work Baby Shower

Last week we had a baby shower at work for 2 ladies who are both due soon.  This card is for one of the ladies who shared that she is having a girl.  The card I posted last week was for the other lady.

This quick and simple card uses new and old SU supplies.  The DP is from one of the very first packages I purchased from SU almost 9 years ago.  The embossing folders and stamps are more recent.  Like many crafters, I keep adding to new supplies my horde before I  use up the old.  However, I recently made a promise to myself not to buy any more DP until I used up the paper that I have had in my stash from 5 years or more.

Recipe:
Stamps:  Something for Baby, Teeny Tiny Wishes - SU
Paper:  WW, Pretty In Pink, Wild Wasabi, DP
Ink:  Pretty In Pink, Tempting Turquoise

Baby Blocks

This card was made for a co-worker who is due to have her first child soon.  She and her husband are waiting until the baby is born to know whether they have a girl or a boy.  That makes things a little challenging for me to make a card.  I chose a DP that had a rainbow of colors and went from there.  The layout for the blocks was CASEd from this card.

Stamps:  Sophisticated Serifs - SU
Paper:  Marina Mist, Rose Red, Daffodil Delight, Gumball Green, DP
Ink:  WW Craft Ink
Accessories:  White embossing powder, Heat Tool, Square punch, Postage stamp punch, Gems, Embossing folder

Cafe au Natural

Yesterday was National Coffee Day and I made a card in honor of the occasion.  Coffee is my favorite drink.  In fact, I would almost start an IV on myself to have a continuous infusion of coffee.   I made this card just in time to enter it in this year's Fall Coffee Lover's Bloghop.

I used new and old elements in my craft stash for this card.  The leaves are a combination of old Cuttlebug dies and new SU framelits.  The Cuttlebug die cuts were embossed while the SU cuts are stamped with the matching stamp set.  I also used new to me coffee-themed dies and stamps from Verve.  I like to add a touch of sparkle to my work, so I used sparkle gel pens to accent the word coffee and the coffee in the cup.

Recipe:
Stamps:  One Cup, Coffee - Verve; Vintage Leaves - SU
Paper:  WW, Soft Suede, Dusty Durango, Elegant Eggplant, Always Artichoke, DP
Ink:  Soft Suede, Dusty Durango, Elegant Eggplant, Always Artichoke
Accessories:  Coffee Word and Cuppa Dies, SU Framelits, Embossing Folders, Gel Pens

Hebrews 11:1

I love using Bible verses in the cards I make.  It is a way to encourage the recipient to grow in their faith and knowledge of Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior.  For those who do not know Christ, it is a way of sharing Gospel, or opening the door for a conversation about the Gospel.

This card was made for a friend of mine who has displayed great faith in trusting God for the desires of her heart.  I am so excited for her that she was accepted into a educational missionary program and is raising money to go.   I used the Hebrews 11:1 stamp from Verve as I love the decorative style it is written in.  The sketch is from Sketch Saturday #311 and the colors are from SCS CC535.  It was a fun card to make as the colors, stamps and sketch fit so nicely together.

Stamps:  Hebrews 11:1, Filigree Fantasy - Verve

Ink:  Rich Razzleberry, Bermuda Bay

Birthday Tree

This was just a fun, whimsical card I made to have in my birthday card stash.  I love the Sheltering Tree stamp set from SU as it is so versatile for any occasion.

I like to have a little sparkle on my cards so I added a few random drops of Stickles to the tree leaves.  It is hard to see it in the photo.  I used the word window punch to make a layered matte for the sentiment.

Stamps:  Sheltering Tree, Party this Way - SU

Happy Birthday Balloons

This is a quick and simple masculine card I made for a recent birthday celebration.  I will probably reuse this design when I am short on time and need a birthday card in a pinch.  I think it works well with any color combination and many DPs that I have in my hoard.

Delicate Butterfly Birthday

I finally got a chance to play with my SU Butterfly Thinlets.  I love the pretty delicate butterflies it makes.  For this card I cut two butterflies in two shades of pink and layered them.  The leafy die cut is from the Secret Garden Framelets.  I distressed the edges of the Mellow Moss layer and sponged the same color ink on the edges.  I sponged a little Pink Pirouette on the top layer; I love the look it gives.  I really intended to emboss only the top layer, but I forgot and attached it to the Mellow Moss layer.  I ended up running them together through the Big Shot, but still like the way it came out though.  It is hard to see in the photo but sprayed some Shimmer Mist on the top butterfly to give it a subtle sparkle.  Pearls were added as finishing touch.

Recipe:
Stamps:  Butterfly Basics, Express Yourself - SU
Paper:  VV, Cream Confetti, Mellow Moss, Pretty In Pink, Pink Pirouette, Always Artichoke

Wedding Birds

Two friends from my church got married recently.  We are all in the same care group at church so I got to watch their relationship grow from friends to dating and now to marriage.  The wedding colors were light pink and white, so I thought that Blushing Bride would be most appropriate for this card.

I CASEd the card from this one.  I used more color and lace with pearls to dress it up a bit.  The edges of the birds were sponged with Blushing Bride ink to make them pop.  I didn't stamp a sentiment on the front because I think the design speaks for itself.

Recipe:
Stamps:  None!
Paper:  Blushing Bride, VV
Ink:  Blushing Bride
Accessories:  Punches, Nestabilities, Embossing Folders, Craft Sponge, Stick on Pearls, Lace with Pearls

Feel Better Soon

A friend had a mishap of falling off of a ladder and injuring her arm pretty badly.  I had this new to me SU stamp set for a while and this was the perfect opportunity to use it.  I love stamps with trees because they are so versatile to use for any occasion.  I colored Stick on Gems with Sharpies to add a little sparkle.

Flower Patch Duo

I actually made these cards a few weeks ago for a couple of people who were having some difficult days.  I waited to post these cards because they are a CASE of another card, but I forgot to save the information.  I hope to find the original inspiration piece so that I can give proper credit.

It was fun to make these because I used a mask and color mists for the background.  I used my heat gun to dry the misted backgrounds quickly.  The mists not only have color, but shimmer that the is difficult to see in the photos.  I will be using this technique more, as I love the look.  The inks I used on the flowers are long retired SU favorites, Cameo Coral and Cool Caribbean.  I have had these ink pads for more than 8 years and they still work great.

Recipe:
Stamps:  Flower Patch - SU, Accent Notes - Verve
Paper:  WW, Basic Black
Ink:  Cameo Coral, Blushing Bride, Cool Caribbean, Bermuda Bay, Tuxedo Black
Accessories:  Perfect Pearls Turquoise Mist, Smooch Spritz Blushing Bride, Bakers Twine, Decorative Mask, Stick on Pearls, Thinlets Dies.

Keep Calm and Drink COFFEE

I love coffee.  If I could have it in IV form I would had a continuous drip going.  These cards are actually a CASE of this one.  I changed the colors, added buttons, used a die for the word "COFFEE".  I got this stamp set and the matching dies just before I moved and this is my first time playing with them.  I just how the word "COFFEE" pops over the cup, it gives it a lot of emphasis.

Flowers for You

I think of this card as kind of retro because I used are old supplies that I have had for a few years.  Stamp is from an older SU Sale-A-Bration set.  The papers and punches I have had for a while too.  The sketch is from MFTWSC 198 from almost a year ago.

I made this card to give to give with a surprise gift to a co-worker.  This co-worker is going through the hot sticky summer while pregnant and needed more comfortable scrubs.  Everyone in the office chipped in and got her a couple of new sets maternity scrubs.  It is a blessing to work in an office where we can express kindness towards each other.  It was a blessing for me making this card as it stirred up my creative mojo and I had a lot of fun.

These cards were made for some people I know who got married recently.  My creative mojo is still lacking, so I went to Pinterest and found this.  It is such a beautiful card so I decided to CASE it, not only once but twice.  It is a very quick and easy design that I will probably be using again.

Your Kindness Shows

.

A very good friend of mine, and member of my Waterlilyz Table gave me a couple of stamps recently.  She is a very kind and giving lady, and a spiritual mentor to many.  I made this card card for her using one of the stamps she gave me.

The stamp is a large background stamp by Judi Kins called Acorns and the sentiment is from Lotus Blossom by SU.  I meant to use a grey marker to color the tops of the acorns but I grabbed black by mistake.  It was until I colored about 5 of the acorns that I realized my error.  Close up the acorns look better than in the picture.  It is hard to see, but I sprayed a little Glimmer Mist on the background image to add some sparkle.

Recipe:
Stamps:  Acorns - Judy Kins, Lotus Blossom - SU
Paper:  WW, Crumbcake
Ink;  Strawberry Slush, Green Galore

You're Too Kind

This is one of the cards that I made for my friends who helped me move.  I'm pretty much settled in now with just about all of the boxes unpacked.  My craft stuff is semi-organized in it's new home.  I keep moving things around a bit, but my room is pretty much set up now.

Every time I take a long pause in my card making, I feel rusty when getting back into it.  I guess my mojo needs warming.  This card is very simple, with just a touch of whimsy.  I look forward to making more cards, with more frequency, in my new space.

Finding Shelter in Friendships

I'm back after a long hiatus.  I moved to a different city last month to cut my commute time to in half.  I liked the city I was previously living in very much but the time I spent in traffic was nerve wracking.  I like my new place and chose it to have a nice space to use as a craftroom.  Most of my cardmaking stuff is unpacked, but I'm still rearranging things to make a warm, fun, and relaxing environment that stimulates my creative mojo.

This is one the first cards that have I made since moving.  I picked something simple to get my mojo warmed up.  I used my Prisma pencils and Goo-Gone to color this fun image.  The image is from Stampendous and the sentiment is from My Favorite Things.

Recipe:
Stamps:  Row Changito Row - Stampendous, Friendship is Shelter - MFT
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper:  WW
